From Memory to Form
Over the past few years, my family has experienced the loss of several loved ones. These experiences made me reflect on the way we remember the people we have lost and how we give them a place in our daily lives. I realised how great the need is for a quiet, personal and home-friendly way of remembrance. Traditional urns are often large, visually dominant and do not always sit naturally within a contemporary living environment.
From personal experience to artistic creation
As an artist, I have long been fascinated by the expressive power of form, colour, rhythm and geometry. My work grows from a continuous search for simplicity, balance and meaning. From that same artistic vision emerged the idea of creating mini urns: small works of art that not only preserve a symbolic amount of ashes, but also offer a tangible place for memory, love and connection.
Each mini urn is carefully designed and crafted as a unique piece. Its forms, patterns and colour compositions are inspired by my artistic practice, transforming every urn into a discreet work of art. No design is ever repeated. Every piece is individually numbered and accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity. In this way, each urn becomes not only a personal vessel of remembrance, but also an authentic work of art with its own identity and story.
A work of art for remembrance
At the back of each mini urn is a discreet compartment that holds a small metal cylinder containing a symbolic amount of ashes or another personal keepsake. The compartment is closed with a metal nameplate, which may remain blank or be engraved with the name of someone dear.
The mini urns are designed to be safely mounted on the wall, giving them a permanent and serene place within the home without dominating the space. For the family, they become a personal keepsake; for visitors, they are perceived as distinctive works of art that naturally find their place among photographs, treasured objects and memories that shape a home.
Where my journey comes together
My experience in graphic design, colour theory, design and the visual arts comes together in this project. What began as a deeply personal need gradually evolved into an artistic response to loss and remembrance. Through these numbered mini urns, I hope to create unique works of art that offer comfort, bring beauty into everyday life, and can be passed on through generations as meaningful family heirlooms.
